Material: wooden frame made with two pieces of cloth and snaps. You can order the snap frame from a Montessori supplier, SEE resources page; OR you can use an old jacket that snaps easily and keep it in a basket for the child to practice with.
Practice yourself several times before showing (giving a lesson) to child.
Presentation One:
Sit
on right hand side of child with snap frame (or jacket) in front of you.
Push
down bottom snap with the left-hand pointer.

Hold
top snap with right-hand pointer and thumb.

*Line
up bottom snap & top snap w/right-hand pointer & thump.
*Continue
pushing down bottom snap w/left-hand pointer. (I couldn't--to take the
picture!)
**Remove
left-hand pointer and push snaps together with right-hand pointer &
thump.
** For really hard snaps, the child can use both her pointer fingers to push down.
Aim: to give child the independence to snap her own clothes.
Age: 3-4 (or older if needed)
