Absorbent Mind:
"From birth to six is the stage of the absorbent mind. This is the type
of mind with which the human baby, shortly after birth, starts taking in
and absorbing the environment in which he finds himself. This is very different
from the adult mind. The absorbent mind [of the child from birth to six]
is..."

Indirect Preparation:
"We all learn according to what we already know. One sees, hears, and understands
according to what one already knows. Whenever is printed on the

of handling future experiences. This is the..."

Nurturing the Child's

which time she is prompted by an inner urge to focus her attention on certain

Montessori Toddler
FAQs (frequent questions and answers about toddler development & behavior):
-
[My Two-year old]
seems interested [in new activities], but then she will swat at the materials,
sweeping everything off the table or across the floor. Do you know what
this might mean? Or do you have any suggestions for me on this behavior?
-
How do you tell if
[my toddler] has mastered an activity?
-
When [do] other toddlers...
recognize individual letters? Should I be working on that? Is it too early
to start with sand[paper] letters and phonics?
-
I'm having some difficulty
encouraging my 27 mo. old to stay engaged in one activity after introducing
it. [What do I do?"]

FAQ:
How
is the [above] program for two and three year olds different from the other
program you offer for toddlers [24-36 month olds]?
The above
Montessori for twos and threes offers lessons and activities for
both
two and three year olds, and uses materials you can find at home
and also buy less expensively, so the benefit is cost of
materials (low) and age group (two and three year olds).
The toddler
program is for two-year olds and includes many of the Montessori materials
found in a traditional Montessori toddler classroom and they can be expensive.
Also, there are more lessons and activities in the toddler program for
toddlers.
Testimonials:
"I just downloaded your
activities, they are fantastic, I absolutely love it. Thank you for working
so hard compiling it."--Kensie
"Hi Mearth! thanks so much
for the wonderful resources. we are living in sakhalin, russia so
we are so excited that with your program stephen will be able to experience
the montessori methods. thanks again!" --jackie
"Thanks again for all of
the easy to understand links and info. One of the things that grated on
my nerves about my Montessori training was the all or nothing approach.
I felt like if the children picked up something the "wrong" way all was
lost. I don't feel that judgment from your material. I know
it is best to hold as fast and true to the original as possible but sometimes
it isn't practical. I am looking forward to integrating as much Montessori
as possible into my own style of teaching with my children. This is definitely
giving me a place to start."--Cheryl
