Absorbent Mind:
"From birth to six is the stage of the absorbent mind. This is the type
of mind with which the human baby, shortly after birth, starts taking in
and absorbing the environment in which he finds himself. This is very different
from the adult mind. The absorbent mind [of the child from birth to six]
is..."

Circle Time: "At

The Home Preschool:
"The
materials you can start with are simple toys, practical life and
sensorial
materials:
also toys, books, simple puzzles, and books that are familiar to the child.
Slowly and gradually the young child will be weaned from them and intrigued
by more challenging materials. But in the beginning give him..."
-
Independently Working:
"Young preschoolers will be exploring their environment sensorially and
there are projects you can make for them to do while you work with an older
child. The key to it is to have..."
-
Indirect Preparation:
"We all learn according to what we already know. One sees, hears, and understands
according to what one already knows. Whenever is printed on the

of handling future experiences. This is the..."

The Montessori Adult:

They are the order which brings security and allows the child to really
unfold. The adult’s role in general is to..."

The Three Period
Lesson: "The Three Period Lesson is a way to present and introduce

It is also a way to..."

Montessori Toddler
FAQs (frequent questions and answers about toddler development & behavior):
-
[My Two-year old]
seems interested [in new activities], but then she will swat at the materials,
sweeping everything off the table or across the floor. Do you know what
this might mean? Or do you have any suggestions for me on this behavior?
-
How do you tell if
[my toddler] has mastered an activity?
-
When [do] other toddlers...
recognize individual letters? Should I be working on that? Is it too early
to start with sand[paper] letters and phonics?
-
I'm having some difficulty
encouraging my 27 mo. old to stay engaged in one activity after introducing
it. [What do I do?"]
-
Movement and Independence:
"The
moment [a child] is born he starts to move independently, and in order
to reach independence he has to keep on moving. There are two types of

FAQ:
How
is the program for two and three year olds different from the [above] program
you offer for toddlers?
The
above toddler program is for two-year olds and includes many of
the Montessori materials found in a traditional Montessori toddler classroom
and they can be expensive. Also, there are more lessons and activities
for toddlers in the above toddler program.
The
Montessori for twos and three year olds offers lessons and activities for
both
two and three year olds, and uses materials you can find at home and also
buy less expensively, so the benefit is cost of materials and age group
(two and three year olds).
Testimonials:
"Thank you so much
for your understanding and down-to-earth response to the travails of toddlerhood
in our household!"--D.
"My daughter is 27 months
old and this stuff is great!'--Joy
"I love your site-it's exactly
what I spent 6 months looking for! The biggest help was the daily routine
and how you set things up--knowing what someone else's Prepared Environment
looked like really helped in creating ours. And when you get your child
a plant to take care of, don't get a cactus."--Peggy
"Hi, Lisa. I want to thank
you for everything.... I appreciate all your assistance and everything
you've done. You answered all my pressing questions and concerns and I
feel like I've found better direction for our Montessori homeschool environment!
And that's HUGE!"--Kristin
"I did the toddler program
with you with my other son who is 2 1/2 earlier in the fall. THANK YOU
so much for it --- I meant to say so earlier. Your activities were really
wonderful and helped to tide us through until he was able to get into a
preschool setting."-- :)Christina
